SOF National Science Olympiad (NSO)

Competition StructureNSO is a science competition for students in grades 1-10, conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation. Two examination levels exist - Level 1 and Level 2, with students in grades 1-2 appearing only for Level 1.

Exam Format PurposeLevel 1 consists of 35 multiple-choice questions for classes 1-4 and 50 multiple-choice questions for classes 5-10. The exam follows CBSE, ICSE, and State Board syllabi with questions across three distinct sections.

Section DistributionSection 1 covers Logical Reasoning with verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions. Section 2 focuses on Science concepts related to the student's grade level. Section 3 contains Higher Order Thinking questions.

Level 2 QualificationTop 5% of students class-wise from Level 1 qualify for Level 2. Top 25 rank holders from each state and class toppers from schools with at least 10 participants scoring 50% also advance to Level 2.

Mathematics Olympiad (IMO)

Competition PurposeIMO is designed to find and develop mathematical innovation in school children worldwide. The competition helps students learn mathematics in an engaging way while maintaining high competitive standards.

Exam LevelsLevel 1 is conducted for students in grades 1-10 during school hours at their respective schools. Level 2 is held for qualified students from grades 3-10 who meet specific performance criteria.

Question StructureLevel 1 contains 35 objective-type multiple-choice questions for classes 1-4 and 50 questions for classes 5-10. The 60-minute exam follows CBSE, ICSE, and State Board syllabi with English as the medium of instruction.
